Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our team for maternity leave coverage starting late April through August with the potential for long-term employment.
We are a small private practice located in beautiful Pacifica, CA next to the pier and local small businesses and eateries. We are equipped with brand new equipment including Topcon Auto-phoropter, Auto-lensometer, and Autorefractor/keratometer, Maestro OCT/Fundus Camera, and FDT. We are also bringing on Radiofrequency for Dry Eye Treatment and offer specialty lenses including EyePrint and scleral lenses. We are fully integrated with Barti EHR and employ 2 full-time opticians and 1 part-time receptionist.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting eye examinations, diagnosing vision problems, and providing appropriate treatment options. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and a passion for enhancing the visual health of our community. New grads are welcome and we knowledge in specialty lenses and dry eyes a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and diagnose ocular conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and other treatments based on patient needs.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient interactions.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, including the use of contact lenses and protective eyewear.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
- Manage dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, amongst other common ocular conditions
- Proficient in medical terminology related to optometry and ophthalmology.
- Strong knowledge of optical systems, including lenses and frames.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices for accurate billing and insurance purposes.
- Understanding of physiology as it relates to vision and eye health.
- Ability to apply aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures.
- Excellent patient care skills, ensuring a positive experience for all patients.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients and address their needs.
- Competence in managing medical records with attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of anatomy related to the eye and visual system.
