Muddox joined Pacific Coast Building Products in 1980 and now supplies a large distributor network with clay products that include standard face brick, thin brick, flue liners, pavers, pool coping, and structural brick. H.C. Muddox also offers custom shapes, sizes and colors in a range of products.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent, this position supports the yard in all areas of production and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Loads product onto customer vehicles and trailers (all sizes), per management instruction and/or sales orders generated by customer service counter personnel.
- Professionally and pleasantly instruct and/or guide truck drivers, customers when/as necessary.
- Unload, stage and/or transport material to their proper storage location throughout the facility.
- Sort, pack, stack and wrap products for transport or storage when/as required.
- Weigh materials when necessary to ensure loads are safe and legal per regulatory standards.
- Monitor and maintain yard inventory in an orderly and safe manner.
- Maintain work areas according to company specifications for cleanliness and safety.
- Perform clean-up work throughout the plant as assigned by the plant manager.
- Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported to the Plant Superintendent and/or Plant EHS Coordinator and are corrected.
- Perform daily routine pre and post inspections of the forklift; report problems or potential repair issues to the maintenance department.
- Report any damages (product, customer transport, forklift) immediately to management.
- Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times.
- Operator must sound horn, be especially careful when approaching blind corners, building entry/exit ways; look back when reversing direction; reduce speed and proceed with caution.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Requires basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Requires ability to follow instruction.
- Requires a working knowledge of plant operating and inventory systems.
- Ability to operate a forklift and load/unload trucks, trailers and other vehicles (including ramps) professionally, efficiently, quickly and safely in all kinds of weather.
- Requires certification in forklift operation.
- Regular attendance is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, climbing (up-and-down from a forklift), stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms.
