What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rewinder Operator position at Packaging and Pads R Us?
The Rewinder Operator is responsible for converting roll stock; setting up, running, and maintaining the machine center with associated equipment, i.e., E&L, roll stands, web guide, slitting knives and recommending improvements to operations.
PLEASE NOTE: The initial onboarding process will take place with a temp agency. This will be a 1-2 week period in which the employee and the employer will ensure that this working relationship is a good fit.
Duties include:
- Following all machine-specific safety and lockout/Tagout procedures on an as-needed basis. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions.
- Ability to work safely, comply with all safety rules, lift, push or pull 50-100 lbs, navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the entire shift.
- Inspecting and identifying quality concerns when converting master rolls to finished product (tolerances, weave, walk, lack of latex or print)
- Inspecting the finished product to ensure customers specifications are met.
- Reading, understanding, and following product specification sheets.
- Verify running on centerline
- Communicate with supervisors to assure quality and efficiency is being maintained and adjusted.
- Able to troubleshoot martin roll stand manual air brake, and tension control systems.
- Identifying and communicating equipment issues with maintenance and Supervisor.
- Meet or exceed productivity goals.
- Maintaining waste generation at or below budgeted standard.
- Maintain full compliance with all GMPs, 5S, and housekeeping standards.
APTITUDE
- Accurately and thoroughly enter computer information.
- Properly fill out paperwork (i.e., daily production, and Quality).
- Able to clearly communicate efficiently with the shift supervisor.
- Ability to read a tape measure (to 1/16” measurement, do basic math, and some computer skills).
- General mechanical aptitude & troubleshooting skills.
- Participate and ensure the department is compliant with AIB & SQF audit regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to problem solve, and offer constructive feedback.
