Packsize is currently seeking a junior or senior (if planning on grad school) Mechanical Engineering student to work as an intern in the US R&D Hardware group. This is a paid, full-time internship during the summer 2025. The candidate will be working with a team of R&D engineers (mechanical, electrical and PLC/controls engineers) working on numerous aspects of the product design and development cycle.

The candidate will be working with a team of R&D engineers (mechanical, electrical and PLC/controls engineers) working on numerous aspects of the product design and development cycle.
Desired skills and competencies include:
- SolidWorks CAD, Simulation (FEA) and PDM
- Ability to design and communicate a mechanical part or assembly for manufacturing (2D drawings)
- Comfortable with hands on work (turning wrenches etc…) and using various tools
- Familiar with GD&T, ISO, and ANSI standards (or where to look to find answers)
- Independent and self-motivated
- Familiar with lean principles and design thinking mindsets
- Design for manufacture
- Rapid prototyping (fail fast and learn quickly)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and competent using modern communication tools
- Work independently but also highly collaborative in a team environment
- Accepts and considers critical review of design work
- Utilizes time effectively
- Familiar with basic welding, machining, and fabrication
- Programming fundamentals (C, Matlab, Python etc..)
