Position Overview:

Regional MDS Nurse Consultant – Kansas & Missouri (LVN/LPN or RN)

We are seeking an experienced Regional MDS Nurse Consultant to provide leadership and oversight for MDS Nurses across our Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Long-Term Care, and Post-Acute Rehab settings in Kansas and Missouri.

Qualified candidates must be seasoned MDS Consultants with an active LPN or RN license in good standing in Kansas and Missouri. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong passion for MDS accuracy, education, training, and staff development.

The ideal candidate excels in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving while demonstrating professionalism under pressure. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to support, guide, and enhance MDS processes to ensure compliance, drive quality outcomes, and optimize reimbursement.

This role offers a hybrid work model, combining remote responsibilities with travel to facilities as needed. If you are a dedicated MDS professional ready to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply!

Primary Responsibilities of a Regional MDS Nurse Consultant include:

  • Lead and support MDS Nurse team members across our Kansas and Missouri communities, ensuring they are well-trained, compliant, and effective. Provide guidance to help communities enhance care quality, maximize reimbursement, and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Conducting comprehensive MDS assessments: Performing thorough evaluations of residents' health status using the MDS tool to identify needs, strengths, and potential problems.
  • Care plan development: Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team (nursing staff, therapy, social services) to create individualized care plans based on MDS assessments.
  • Clinical expertise and training: Providing ongoing education and training to nursing staff on proper MDS assessment techniques, coding guidelines, and care planning.
  • Quality assurance and compliance: Monitoring MDS accuracy, identifying potential coding errors, and ensuring compliance with Medicare regulations related to resident assessments.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Analyzing MDS data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential quality concerns.
  • Facility audits and reviews: Conducting regular audits of resident records and care plans to assess the quality of care provided and identify areas for improvement.
  • Problem-solving and consultation: Providing support and guidance to nursing staff on complex resident cases, addressing clinical concerns, and helping to resolve issues related to care planning.

Required Experience:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing school (LVN/LPN or RN)

License in good standing with the state of KS and MO

Previous experience as an MDS Nurse, in SNF/LTC.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), with previous work experience in Point Click Care (PCC)

Strong analytical skills to ensure data accuracy and compliance, problem solving, reimbursement optimization, quality measures, and sound decision-making.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional attention to detail to ensure CMS compliance and reimbursement optimization.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with companies, residents, staff, and internal teams.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
