The Physical Therapy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the physical therapy department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, managing staff, and driving the financial performance of the clinic. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise, leadership, and business acumen to maintain and enhance the department’s effectiveness and reputation.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Leadership and Management :
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and support staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to ensure clear communication of goals, policies, and procedures.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to promote staff engagement and retention.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the clinic’s performance and patient satisfaction.
2. Clinical Oversight :
Ensure all patient care is delivered in accordance with clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and the highest standards of practice.Review and audit patient treatment plans and documentation to maintain compliance with Medicare, insurance, and other regulatory standards.Address and resolve any clinical issues or patient concerns that arise within the department.Provide direct patient care when necessary, particularly for complex cases.3. Operational Management :
Oversee the scheduling of patient appointments and staff shifts to maximize clinic efficiency and patient access to care.Manage the department’s budget, including staffing levels, supplies, and equipment.Ensure the clinic meets all safety, cleanliness, and regulatory standards.Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall clinic operations.4. Financial Management :
Monitor financial performance indicators, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.Develop and implement strategies to achieve financial targets, including increasing patient volume and optimizing reimbursement processes.Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims and manage denials or appeals as necessary.5. Professional Development :
Encourage and facilitate ongoing professional development and continuing education for the clinical staff.Stay current with advancements in physical therapy techniques, technologies, and best practices.Participate in professional organizations and represent the clinic at industry events or conferences.6. Community Engagement :
Build and maintain relationships with referring physicians, healthcare providers, and community organizations.Develop and implement outreach programs to promote the clinic’s services within the community.Oversee patient satisfaction initiatives and address feedback to improve service quality.Qualifications :
Education : Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.Licensure : Active and unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the state of California.Experience : Clinical experience as a physical therapist.Certifications : N / AKnowledge : In-depth understanding of physical therapy principles, techniques, and regulatory requirements.Skills :
Strong leadership and team management abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and practice management software.Financial acumen, including budgeting and financial reporting.Problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure.Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.Working Conditions :
The Physical Therapy Manager will work in a clinical setting, with some time spent in an office environment for administrative duties.This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet the needs of patients and staff.The position involves direct patient care, which may include lifting, positioning, and transferring patients.Benefits :
