Padua Academy, a four-year, Catholic college preparatory high school in Wilmington, Delaware seeks an experienced professional for the position of Accounting Specialist.
Job Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for overseeing financial operations, maintaining compliance with financial policies, and ensuring accuracy in financial records and transactions. This role works closely with the Director of Finance to support budgeting, audits, payroll, and tuition management while contributing to the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable processing
Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and petty cash
Prepare, disseminate, and track all tuition contracts for current and incoming students
Manage all aspects of the tuition processing system, including billing, payment posting, and reconciliation
Collaborate with the Director of Finance on the financial aid process for incoming and current students
Review and process bi-monthly payroll
Preparation of schedules for the annual audit
Prepare monthly credit card entries and compile review packets for the principal
Collaborate with the Director of Finance to prepare an annual budget
Complete monthly reviews of departmental reports and work with department chairs
Prepare monthly outstanding tuition reports for management review
Review monthly investment statements and prepare quarterly entries
Verify and process annual 1099 forms
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Proven 6 years’ experience in financial management, accounting, or a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Blackbaud, and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time, on-site role requiring collaboration with the finance director, department chairs, and management.
