Pathologists' Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prosection of biopsies from all tissue sites
- Performance of autopsies as needed
- Prosection of specimens requiring simple and complex dissection, selection of sections for analyses to fulfill all CAP requirements for the specific tissue evaluations
- Provide appropriate dictation to fulfill all CAP requirements for the specific tissue evaluations.
- When necessary produce labeled cassettes and slides
- Be capable of preparing frozen section slides including prosection, cryostat sectioning and routine staining
- Be capable of providing gross photographic pictures
- Pursue required CME's for the incumbent's certification
- Maintain a clean orderly gross station
- NYSDOH License
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists License (ASCP) - PA License
- Graduation from an accredited Pathologist Assistant Program, with a minimum of a Bachelors in Science required
- Preferred autopsy experience
