Medical Receptionist/ Medical Assitant
Pain and Rehabilitative Consultants Medical Group is a well-established Bay Area Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medical Group seeking for a full-time Medical Receptionist/ Medical Assistant in the Central Valley.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Greet patients and guests in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner
- Check patients in/out, verify patient demographics, collect copayments, and update insurances as appropriate
- Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls with professional etiquette
- Answer routine inquiries and forward complex inquiries to appropriate personnel
- Schedule follow-up appointments
- Audit scheduled appointments
- Verify commercial insurance eligibility and benefits
- Process authorizations for HMO and Medicare office visits
- Keep waiting room neat and stocked with magazines and cups for water
- Perform a variety of other clerical and reception duties
- Responsible for rooming patients and maintaining efficient clinic flow
- Assist and anticipate the needs of the provider; Monitor and manage provider’s schedule
- Track and edit medical provider’s reports
- Obtain medical and/or diagnostic report(s) upon the provider’s request
- Perform secretarial duties for the provider such as documentation, sorting through mail, and filtering correspondences
- Triage, digest, and relay messages to the provider
- Perform inventory of medical supplies as well as make orders when needed.
- Perform various telephone duties as needed, which include speaking with patients as well as medical, insurance, and legal professionals
- Assist with patient education.
- Oversee medical equipment, assure their proper functioning, and transport to other facilities when necessary
- Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms
- Provide coverage for other members of the Back Office staff when needed, as well as assist with coverage in the Front Office
- Track, facilitate, and expedite the completion of medical forms
- Facilitate prompt filing of a Doctor’s First Report of Occupational Injury or Illness (DFR)
- Collect urine specimens from patients and perform preliminary urine drug screens as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a medical office (e.g. medical office administrative assistant, medical assistant certification, etc.) is highly desirable
- 1-2 years verifiable experience as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Assistant, Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a closely related field or Certified Medical Assistant
- Previous workers' compensation experience preferred
- Working knowledge of EMR systems preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work well under pressure
- Reliable and self-motivated
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Outgoing and energetic personality
- Able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism
- Excellent phone etiquette
- Highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Dedicated to providing excellent service to all patients
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Exercised patience in a high-volume, high-stress environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook) required
- Type at least 40 wpm
- Excellent phone etiquette
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
