Job Summary
The Radiology Tech is responsible for operating the imaging equipment and producing radiographs according to the standards and practices set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The Radiology Tech assists the radiologist or physician to perform interventional procedures. The Radiology Tech demonstrates knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection and specialized techniques unique to the Interventional Procedures environment; exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary of medical ethics; and participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

Detailed Responsibilities
Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accuratelyObserves patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity; monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warrantedFollows radiation safety procedures and guidelinesEstablishes a clean, orderly, safe and professional work environmentPrevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiationPerforms patient assessment and communicates actively with healthcare teamCompletes all required documentation related to patient, procedure, and exam chargesAdapts imaging methodology using approved modifications and communication with physician as neededReports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner and actively assists in arranging repairs following established processAssists with staff development, orientation to modality, training and educationPerforms other duties as assignedFollows the chain of command, communicating reportable situations to the appropriate personnel in a timely mannerMaintains confidentiality of management information, displays discretion and good judgment in communication methodsAdheres to all approved center policies and procedures; notifies supervisor of any deviation from approved policyAssists in the orientation of new employees to the centerDisplays ability to accept counseling from direct supervisor in a positive mannerDisplays ability to and desire to initiate corrective actionBecomes familiar with Center’s Fire, Safety, and Disaster Plan, and his / her role in the event of eachDisplays cost-effectiveness in materials management; assumes responsibility for timely verification ofsupplies used in the center
Requirements :
Certified Basic BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) obtained before hire date or job transfer date.High School diploma or EquivalentAssociate’s degree is highly preferred but not required.Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association-approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical Board or Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) with the Texas Department of State Health Services; registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists primary certification in Radiography - ARRT (R). If hired prior to 4 / 13 / 2012 and the technologist has been performing x-rays since 1987 and was grandfathered in by the State of Texas , only MRT or CMRT license is required.Physical Demands
Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds.
