What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Provider position at Paint Creek Elementary?
Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Early Childhood Services, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through extending the school day addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma, 12 semester hours of coursework in early childhood, child development, or child related field and 960 hours working with children.
- Must meet all required qualifications as stated in Licensing Rule Book and program specific manual
- Must be flexible to work in all school age child care classrooms when needed
- Classroom assignment and scheduled hours are depend on student enrollment may change daily
- Candidates must be flexible to work a split shift daily
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents
- Awareness of child development theory and practices
- Knowledge of social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of preschool children
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and supervisors
- Ability to help teacher implement developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Help teacher implement and monitor daily School Age Child Care Program
- Self-motivated, dependable and responsible
- CPR and First Aid Certificate required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Requires lifting
Job Duties
- 25 hours per week, am/pm split schedule
- Assist in carrying out daily schedule of activities
- Will be directly responsible for all children in care
- Respond quickly to emergency situations
- Available and responsive to all children
- Multi-task and oversee all indoor/outdoor activities
- Actively participate in activities with children
- Treats all children of all ages, races, religions family backgrounds and cultures with equal respect and consideration
- Foster the development of age appropriate self-help skills such as picking up toys, wiping spills, feeding, personal grooming, and etc.
- Anticipates and eliminates potential problems, redirecting children to more acceptable behavior or activity
- Guide children in resolving conflicts by modeling skills that help children to solve their individual problems
- Comfort and attend to a children when upset
- Intervene quickly when children’s response become physically aggressive
- Lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
