Buyer/ Purchasing Agent

This position is responsible for the purchasing and managing of products and supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner. This includes the original acquisition of products and maintaining a re-order process. This position interacts with the company's sales team, store/warehouse operations, vendors, and payables.

BUYER/PURCHASING DUTIES:

• Initiate and process purchase orders to maintain a proper inventory level.
• Creating and initiating inter store product transfers.
• Maintains processes, to assist in stock replenishment.
• Participate in inventory process improvements.
• Analyze and create overstock returns to vendors.
• Review usage of stocking product lines
• Verifies that orders meet vendor requirements.
• Monitor usage of product and possible spikes for trend analysis
• Negotiates supplier pricing and terms.
• Arrange and process returns of defective material.
• Participate in physical inventory counts.
• Review existing inventory and historical usages, of newly acquired entities, to determine future buying optimization.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

PURCHASING REQUIREMENTS:

• Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
• Knowledge of WMS preferred.
• Assist with the product data base.
• Effectively maintain inventory levels and costs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, bending, lifting of files and catalogs when needed. Computer work will be approximately 75% of your time. Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds occasionally, able to reach, twist, bend, kneel, climb a ladder while carrying product.

Candidates must submit to a drug screen and meet acceptable Motor Vehicle Report requirements upon the hiring process.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Attend various manufacturer-training seminar and/or training schools as needed. Seminar may be conducted after normal business hours. Training schools may require overnight travel up to five (5) days.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work all scheduled hours as needed. If usage of employee’s own vehicle is required for company business, employee must obtain appropriate insurance per Company Policy. Employee must be licensed and able to operate vehicle in accordance with state law including commercial drivers license if required. Must have acceptable driving record from State Motor Vehicle Bureau.
