Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an educational system that supports student preparation for college through an academic elective course that teaches necessary learning skills, reinforces the academic core, and encourages rigorous student course-taking.
GOALS:
AVID tutors will guide students toward academic and personal excellence that will reach far beyond their secondary school years. AVID tutors will be active participants in the learning, growth, and personal development of students with the goal of preparing students to successfully attend college.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduation or equivalent. Enrolled in college courses with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA with strong math and/or English background evidenced by college transcript. Some experience working with students in an educational environment is desirable.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Individuals interested in employment are required to complete an official district application. Applicants are asked to describe any training, education, experience or skills relevant to this position. Resumes are optional. Applications will be screened based on the minimum qualifications shown for the position. Qualified candidates will be identified at each step of the selection process for further competition.
