Position Summary

The position of Weld Supervisor includes but is not limited to the coordination and direction of work for the Weld Team to meet production goals and overseeing the team to maximize efficiencies and utilization of resources. The Weld Supervisor will also work with other departments to effectively and efficiently ensure department scheduling, manufacturing, and quality standards are continuously met by the Weld Team on a day-to-day basis. The Weld Supervisor will be required to work according to established procedures, read and understand work orders and blueprints, and follow all safety protocols and workplace policies.

Responsibilities

· Coordinate and directs work of the Weld Team based off instructions and the Lewisburg production schedule

  • Coordinate with the FA Department to dispatch FA/Weld Staff to set up weld lines on a daily basis and build the first-off/sample part to ensure quality and consistency for the production run
  • Ensures consistency and adherence to company policies and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) from staff

· Oversees team to maximize efficiencies and utilization of resources

· Monitor production levels, part usage and report on any material issues

  • Coaches, motivates, and develops staff through open communication to ensure job satisfaction, performance and promote teamwork
  • Assists in the creation of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing, safety, quality, throughput, delivery, and operating costs
  • Manages conflicts, addresses performance concerns as well as safety violations
  • Completes required paperwork/input to computer including vacation approval, authorization of hours on Dayforce, production reports, machine maintenance, training records etc.
  • Read, interpret, and understand work orders, drawings, and blueprints
  • Use a variety of measuring devices such as verniers, micrometers, tape measure, etc. to ensure parts are within acceptable tolerance as determined by the drawings
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and PakFab policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5 years of weld experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of supervisory or lead hand experience
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor, and schedule work
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production shop
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams
  • Preferably possess a valid driver’s license
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all

times

Work Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g., CSA approved steel-toed safety boots, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
