Summary

Cleans by power tools or hand tools to remove adhering scale, sand, paint grease, tar, rust and dirt in order to provide an even finish prior to applying paint system on piping, structural steel, or wood components.

Essential Functions

1. Takes verbal instructions / directions from appropriate personnel with regard to work that needs to be done. Plans work in logical order and selects appropriate tools, paints, and solvents.

2. Determine if weather conditions permit painting.

3. Mixes paint according to written paint specifications.

4. Applies primer and top coat (s) according to specifications paying close attention to avoid runs or holidays on the finished product.

5. Cleans paint brushes at end of each work day.

6. Cleans work area after completing a job.

7. Examines finished objects to insure conformance to specifications.

8. Recognizes and reports safety hazards with regard to work area and work being performed.

9. Properly disposes of paints, solvents, etc. in accordance with Pala Hazardous Waste Plan where applicable.

Required Education and Experience:

• Minimum three years' exp.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School or GED preferred but not required.
• Trade School program preferred but not required.
