CDL Driver Job Description
Job Summary :
The CDL Driver will operate assigned vehicles to transport materials safely and efficiently to various destinations across the Gulf Coast and the United States, including various plants and refineries. The successful candidate will ensure that the contents of the shipment are properly secured to prevent damage or injury, obtain signatures to confirm deliveries, and maintain timely transport and delivery of goods.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Safely operate assigned vehicles.
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pick up and transport materials, livestock, etc. to intended destinations.
- Secure shipment contents to prevent damage or injury.
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries.
- Map driving routes and follow predetermined routes.
- Communicate with dispatch as needed.
- Ensure the shipment load matches the manifest document.
- Perform vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and perform service as needed.
- Notify managers of any significant maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
- Follow the delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
- Track and report working hours.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to weather and road conditions.
- Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
- Make safety a top priority at all times.
