We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to support key financial functions, including payroll reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card management, and vendor onboarding. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles and a proactive approach to managing financial records and processes. This role offers the opportunity to grow into a more senior accounting position over time.
This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their accounting career while gaining experience across multiple financial functions. This is a remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Benefits Reconciliation
- Enter and reconcile payroll and benefits transactions in the general ledger.
- Ensure payroll and benefits expenses align with financial records.
- Maintain vendor records, onboard new vendors, and collect required tax forms (e.g., W-9s).
- Process vendor payments and ensure timely disbursements.
- Reconcile accounts payable and resolve discrepancies.
- Enter customer invoices into the accounting system.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up internally on overdue payments.
- Assist with cash application and payment allocations.
- Review, categorize, and reconcile company credit card transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with journal entries and accruals during month-end close.
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits.
- Generate reports to support financial decision-making.
- Review general ledger for discrepancies and miscoded transactions.
- Process and verify employee expense reports.
- Ensure financial transactions comply with company policies and internal controls.
Qualifications & Skills:
1-3 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in payroll, AP, and AR.- Familiarity with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with vendor management and accounts payable processing.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and invoice tracking.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with bank reconciliations and credit card expense management.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- Previous experience in a high-volume, multi-entity accounting environment.
