Summary
The Upholsterer III is responsible for expertly applying fabric and materials to furniture frames and cushions, ensuring each piece meets both industry standards and customer expectations. This role requires precision, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to identify and correct flaws or imperfections in the finished product.
The Upholsterer III should have an understanding of sewing and upholstery techniques and can effectively identify issues related to stitching, cushioning, and other upholstery components. This individual plays a role in maintaining quality and ensuring all products reflect the highest standards of craftsmanship
Description
- Upholster product to meet desired specification for assigned projects, utilizing loose fabrics
- Train and mentor upholstery team members in advanced upholstery techniques and industry best practices
- Ensure all upholstered products meet high-quality standards through adherence to quality assurance guidelines

Upholster various furniture components, including:
- Seat boards
- Backs of frames
- Fully upholstered frames
- Sofas
- Headboard
- Perform blind tacking, apply ply grip, and manage fabric placements with precision

Work with specialty materials, such as:
- Leather
- Centered and pattern-matched fabrics
- Flow-matched textiles
- Effectively use hand tools and upholstery equipment in daily production tasks
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to identify areas for skill development and continuous improvement
- Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure products are processed for final assembly
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality
- Utilize hand tools to safely mold, cut, glue, or stretch furniture materials
- Follow safety procedures associated with the use of tools common to the trade and personal safety equipment
- Maintain a neat and orderly workstation
- Perform other duties as requested
Key Qualifications
- 5 or more years of relevant furniture upholstery or sewing experience
- Excellent English and Spanish verbal and written communication skills required
- Attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination, ability to recognize different styles of upholstery materials, and perform minimal trade techniques
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse people
Physical Requirements
- The Warehouse is not temperature regulated
- Exposure to high levels of noise
- Walk approximately 15k – 20k steps per day
- Must be able to pull and push upwards unassisted, up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
- Ability to climb stairs
