Head Nurse
Job Summary
- The Head Nurse is responsible for the health and well-being of all students and staff at the camp, providing direct patient care, overseeing all healthcare protocols, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment. Key Responsibilities
Patient Care :Provide ongoing patient care, ensuring the safety and well-being of children attending camp.
Complete fast, accurate assessments of health complaints.Provide first aid for minor injuries and illnesses.Refer more serious issues to the appropriate medical personnel.Medication Management :Supervise medication management, ensuring that all medications are input correctly and promptly.
Administer prescription and over-the-counter medications.Oversee the safe storage, administration, and tracking of all medications in compliance with legal and medical guidelines.Health Assessments and Communication :Review camper health histories with emphasis on current illnesses, allergies and physical limitations.
Communicate health needs of students to instructors and administration, as needed.Contact parents of students that require in-depth care, complicated meds, or unique situations.Communicate with parents regarding on-site health concerns.Healthcare Protocols :Lead the development, implementation, and regular review of policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices to maintain the highest standards of care.
Annually review and update treatment procedures in consultation with a physician.Staff Training & Support :Lead staff and other team members to ensure effective patient care and operations.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to staff orientation and facilitate general staff healthcare training as needed.Lead in identifying and address any gaps in team knowledge, and support staff in their professional development.Relay pertinent camper information to staff in a clear and concise manner.Documentation and Reporting :Maintain accurate health logs and incident report logs.
Collaborate with the Wellness Center Manager to monitor health logs and records to track trends and address any ongoing health issues.Compliance :Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and ACA standards.
Apply and integrate changes in regulations, policies, and standards of care to ensure compliance and improve health services.Emergency Response :Provide wellness and medical services, focusing on minor injury treatment, illness management, medication administration, and emergency response for campers and staff.
Qualifications
Current RN, LVN, or higher is required.Experience with pediatrics and young adults is essential.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.Proficiency in medical record keeping and compliance with health regulations.Salary and Benefits :
Salary : $68,460 -$70,000 per yearEmployment Type : Full-time.Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
