Warehouse Assistant

Summary

As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be integral to the efficient operation of our distribution center, reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor. Your primary responsibilities will include materials handling, shipping and receiving, and operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and cherry pickers. With a strong foundation in warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge, you will ensure safety and compliance with OSHA standards. Your effective communication skills will facilitate teamwork and enhance productivity, making you a vital asset in maintaining a well-organized and efficient warehouse environment. This role will primarily work in an outdoors environment.

Duties

• Receive incoming goods and verify against BOL's/packing lists.
• Properly label received good and assign storage locations based on inventory/warehouse management system (WMS).
• Inspect goods for damage and report discrepancies to the warehouse manager.
• Pick and pack orders accurately and securely to prevent damage during transportation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and periodic physical inventories to maintain accurate inventory records.
• Follow OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
• Provide administrative support to warehouse manager and warehouse staff to ensure smooth operation of storage and warehousing activities.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including incoming and outgoing goods to reflect current inventory in warehouse management system (WMS) and worksheets.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure timely and accurate documentation of inventory movements.
• Prepare shipping, billing documents, and other paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to streamline operations and address any issues that arise during daily activities.
• Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards at all times.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively work in various environments, including extreme temperatures/inclement weather, as necessary
• Previous experience in a warehouse setting is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with mechanical operations related to warehouse equipment is a plus.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery safely.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Physical ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new skills related to warehouse operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
