Assistant Athletic Trainer
Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) is a thriving urban campus in the heart of South Florida, a globally connected, metropolitan community. PBA is a premier Christ-first university competing in 18 intercollegiate sports programs at the highest level of NCAA Division II athletics, Sunshine State Conference.
We are seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer, for assigned Sailfish Athletics Programs, to oversee the treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and conditioning of student-athletes suffering from sports-related injuries across all varsity sports teams. This position works closely with the athletic training leadership and other medical staff to deliver excellent care to student-athletes, support athletic teams during events, and maintain the daily operations of the athletic training program. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Sports Medicine Program Support
- Assists in supporting all aspects of the comprehensive Sports Medicine Program, ensuring the health and safety of student-athletes through effective injury prevention, evaluation, and treatment strategies.
- Works closely with the athletic training leadership to ensure alignment with best practices and university standards in sports medicine.
- Contributes documentation on sports medicine activities, injury trends, and key metrics, showing continuous improvement and compliance with university and NCAA standards.
- Performs daily operations of the athletic training room, ensuring prompt and effective service to student-athletes while maintaining the highest standards of care and excellence.
- Travels with assigned teams to away competitions, providing on-site injury management, sports medicine care, and support to student-athletes during events.
Injury Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation
- Supports injury prevention efforts by implementing conditioning programs, conducting safety checks, and educating student-athletes on injury prevention techniques, nutrition, and overall wellness practices.
- Provides direct care to student-athletes by assisting in the identification, assessment, and management of athletic injuries, ensuring that athletes receive appropriate treatment and rehabilitation, under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, Associate Head Trainer, and medical staff.
- Assists in preparing athletes for practices and competitions by applying preventive taping, offering protection for previous injuries, and providing customized injury management strategies to optimize performance.
- Collaborates closely with the athletic training department and coaching staff, ensuring clear and consistent communication regarding the progress and status of student-athletes in treatment programs.
Recordkeeping and Documentation
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date medical records for all student-athletes using systems such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Teamworks, and NCAA Insurance Documentation, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and university policies.
- Ensures all injury reports and medical documentation meet NCAA guidelines and adhere to university policies and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in athletic training, required.
- Professional certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer; Licensed by the Florida Board of Athletic Training, required
- First Aid and CPR Certification, required.
- 1 years’ experience in Athletic training, intercollegiate setting preferred.
