SUMMARY:
In support of the university's mission and objectives, and under the direction of the PGY-1 residency program director and residency preceptors, the resident performs the duties and functions of a clinical pharmacist across various patient care settings. The PGY-1 resident actively teaches in the pharmacy program, including didactic and experiential courses. The resident works directly with the Residency Program Director for oversight and feedback aligned with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accreditation standards. This position is in partnership with Wellington Regional Medical Center.
Pharmacy Practice

Pharmacy Practice
- Engages pharmacy practice site responsibilities such as practicing in a collaborative environment as a clinical pharmacist with significant responsibility for the provision of patient care in a variety of settings.
- Develops clinical expertise that supports effective and safe care of patients and their needs as evidenced by successful completion of learning experiences developed to meet the goals and objectives specified by ASHP.
- Adheres to Wellington Regional Medical Center Policies and Procedures.
- Acts as pharmacy educational resource for the medical staff and patients.
- Engages administrative tasks such as attending required meetings at both PBA and Wellington Medical Center, evaluating new and current treatment options to identify effective, safe, and cost-effective therapies.
- Assists in development of clinical protocols, medication use evaluations, and drug monographs as appropriate on learning experiences.
- Completes a residency projects (as defined by ASHP PGY1 Residency Requirements) and presentations of the project, maintaining a residency portfolio documenting all residency experiences, including both didactic and clinical experiences and evaluations.
- Engages in teaching activities with PBAU-GSOP as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Doctorate degree in Pharmacy, required.
