What are the responsibilities and job description for the ANIMAL CONTROL FIELD SERVICES MANAGER position at Palm Beach County?
Responsible administrative and supervisory work managing the Field Team of Animal Control Officers at the Animal Care and Control Division. Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising operations and services and ensuring all staff are properly trained. Assists in unusual animal cruelty complaints/animal bite investigations/pickups. Acts as the liaison for the shelter with news media and other external contacts dealing with sensitive animal issues. Enforces County Ordinances and Florida State Statutes; assists and prepares search warrants and probable cause affidavits, and issues citations/violations. Exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative in directing staff. Work is performed under the general direction of an administrative superior and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observations or results obtained.
Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Animal/Health Science, Criminal Justice, or related Bachelor's Degree; minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Animal Control Officer, including one (1) year of experience leading Animal Control Officers.
Equivalency
Must be able to lift 100 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray required for selected candidate.
Will be required to complete a "Willingness to Work" Acknowledgment with application. Selected candidate must successfully complete the pre-exposure rabies treatment/vaccination.
Qualifications

- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and six (6) years of experience as an Animal Control Officer or similar experience in a kennel, animal shelter, law enforcement, or similar agency working under animal control laws, including one (1) year of experience leading Animal Control Officers.
- Florida Animal Control Association (FACA) Euthanasia Technician Certification AND FACA Animal Control Officer Certification within six (6) months of hire
- 40-hour Livestock Education and Certification for Agriculture Law Enforcement (LECALE) Certification AND Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI) Certification within 11 months of hire.
