What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHIEF WATER/WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR position at Palm Beach County?
Supervises and coordinates the operation and maintenance of a large water/wastewater treatment plant. Develops and maintains operating reports as well as operational protocol. Directs technical and manual labor staff in the daily operations of the water/wastewater treatment plant. Completes compliance reports for Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies. Work is performed under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant that includes one (1) year of experience directing the work of others.
Necessary Special Requirement: Must possess a valid Florida Class A Plant Operator License in Water/Wastewater Treatment (copy of License must be uploaded to online application within three [3] business days of application submittal).
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Operating/maintaining a five (5) Million Gallons Daily (MGD) or larger automated water/wastewater treatment plant; with mechanical/electrical/ structural basics (must specify on application); training new employees in plant safety/operations/maintenance; using MS Office Suite programs and/or iFIX software; with reverse osmosis.
NOTE: It is not necessary to submit another application for this position if you applied 12/2-13/24.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
