What are the responsibilities and job description for the CODE COMPLIANCE OFFICER - PROVISIONAL position at Palm Beach County?
Performs technical fieldwork in enforcing the County's Building and Zoning regulations and codes, requiring the application of all such codes, ordinances, regulations, and state statutes. Work involves responding to citizens' complaints and conducting field investigations relating to residential and commercial code violations, construction projects, land use violations, and minimum housing standards. Requires to work with increasing independence upon completing the training period while a superior reviews work and provides advice/assistance. Work is performed under close supervision from an administrative superior and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluation of results achieved.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in zoning code/related code enforcement, investigatory, or building contracting work. Equivalency: Associate's Degree, one (1) year of related experience, and/or any Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Certification.
Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain FACE Certifications Level I, 3, and 4 (Fundamentals, Legal Issues, and Safety) within 11 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR: FACE Level 1 Certification.
