What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST position at Palm Beach County?
Performs administrative and public relations work related to Departmental communication functions. Determines appropriate information to be distributed to the public and other agencies and departments. Maintains up-to-date reference/referral list of Department and external agency services, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Coordinates the collection, distribution, and filing of news articles, office correspondence, confidential documents, reports, historical information, digital photographs, and other materials. Researches departmental information; collaborates with team members to identify topics and themes for marketing materials; assists in creating content that promotes the Department's parks and services on social media, Intranet, and internet sites. Creates, maintains, and distributes directories, manuals, and other communication for internal and external use. Coordinates participation and takes part in the development and set-up/breakdown of exhibits and outreach events. Possesses familiarity with the various programs/services/benefits of the Parks and Recreation Department. Work is performed independently under general supervision, and is reviewed through conferences and written reports.
Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Public/Media Relations, Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; minimum of one (1) year of responsible office experience related to public/media relations, marketing, or professional/business-level social media.
