What are the responsibilities and job description for the CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL COORDINATOR position at Palm Beach County?
Independent regulatory compliance work coordinating, administering, and enforcing the Cross Connection Control Program. Responsible for site inspections, testing backflow prevention devices, responding to complaints and inquiries from the public, advising the public on County, state and/or federal environmental regulations, and initiating enforcement activities. Work involves data collection, file management, database maintenance, basic data analysis, and quality control of same. Work entails considerable public contact explaining code/rule compliance and making recommendations to Water Utility Department customers or their representatives. Work is performed with minimum supervision, and reviewed through conferences and work produced by the Regulatory Compliance Supervisor and/or the Manager, Environmental Health and Safety.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience with utility-related water and wastewater regulatory programs.
Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a valid Backflow Tester Certificate from the Florida Apprenticeship and Backflow Association or the University of Florida TRIO Center.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Regulations, policies, and standard practices for cross connection control (must specify on application); customer service. Also desirable: Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole); more than three (3) years of experience implementing a backflow program, including ability to monitor, inspect, and enforce cross connection control regulations (must specify on application).
