What are the responsibilities and job description for the CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST I position at Palm Beach County?
Provides exceptional customer service and assists customers in person and over the phone; receives payments; maintains records, reviews, and processes related paperwork; prepares and reconciles reports; handles all cash/check/credit card transactions. Obtains and verifies information on animal owners and the animals' medical records; receives and processes stray, owned, and bite animals, including wildlife; records animal intake, redemptions, adoptions, rabies vaccinations, tags, and microchip information into the Chameleon database system; handles complicated paperwork documentation; maintains intricate recordkeeping system; meets and greets the public; handles a heavy volume of phone calls.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service work involving public contact.
PREFERENCE FOR: Six (6) months of experience working with animals in an animal shelter/humane society, veterinary clinic, pet shop, or obedience school; experience dealing with the public both in person and over the phone (must specify on application); one (1) year of experience in data entry or as a cashier (must specify on application); bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Will be required to complete a "Willingness to Work" Acknowledgment with application. Selected candidate must successfully complete the pre-exposure rabies treatment/vaccination.
