What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIBRARY ASSOCIATE II (Children and Teen Services) position at Palm Beach County?
Plans and presents children's story hour classes, crafts, and other library activities. Provides readers' advisory services for children, parents, and caregivers. Conducts bibliographic searches and operates audiovisual equipment. Assists library members in finding reference materials for homework assignments/other projects and demonstrates how to access electronic reference products through the internet.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours). Equivalencies: Graduation from high school/equivalent; one (1) year of college-level course work (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours) AND one (1) year of experience working in a library OR graduation from high school/equivalent AND two (2) years of experience working in a library.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Teaching/early childhood education/storytelling; public speaking/conducting presentations. Also desirable: Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole); knowledge of children's literature (must specify on application).
Ability to lift 50 pounds preferred.
