What are the responsibilities and job description for the SECURITY DOOR TECHNICIAN (2 Positions) position at Palm Beach County?
Skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of County doors, door hardware and locking systems which includes correctional facilities. Responsible for the creation, installation and construction of a variety of metal, plastic, garage/gates (manual and motorized), door opening/closing equipment and wood doors of various sizes. Reviews work orders, sketches, diagrams, schematics/blueprints for completeness and uniformity of doors, door systems and locking types for conformity with established control standards; uses computer software programs; works with outside vendors; assists Purchasing Department in coordinating larger door/locking projects through outside services; maintains records of repair/maintenance services and equipment and assists with a preventative maintenance program for all security doors; works in a correctional facility around inmates. Performs work under the direction of a Trades Crew Chief or a Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with instructions, defined procedures and schedules. Replaces and re-keys locks as necessary, and ensures that all security devices are in adequate working condition.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of automatic security doors/locks.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Working around inmates in a correctional facility (must specify on application); working as a locksmith with interior/exterior commercial door systems; with card access systems; working with detention/prison/correctional facility locks and hardware (e.g., Southern Folger Locks/Detention Equipment) (must specify on application); using MS Word/Office/Excel/Computerized Maintenance Management System (e.g., Maximo).
Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Hearing Loss Test and Respiratory screen/chest x-ray required for selected candidate.
Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment.
