What are the responsibilities and job description for the TECHNICAL AIDE position at Palm Beach County?
Provides routine technical and administrative support to the Traffic Division. Receives, investigates, and coordinates with appropriate County agencies to resolve complaints; researches and drafts responses. Receives, screens, and dispatches both emergency and non-emergency calls relating to traffic signals and signs. Assists a superior by preparing and maintaining specialized reports, correspondence, visual aids, and charts for presentations; inputs data and creates invoices and spreadsheets; maintains records. Serves as liaison with other Palm Beach County departments/divisions, municipalities, professional groups, utility companies, policing agencies, and the general public regarding policies and programs. Uses independent judgment and initiative to ensure project completion.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of specialized secretarial experience in engineering, utilities, or the construction industry.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Engineering work orders using a PBC work order system for entry and billing; traffic data entry using Intersection Maintenance System (IMS) for entry and billing (must specify on application); using Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook; FOXIT PDF Editor, Advantage Financial System; Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) contracts and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reimbursement; Daily Activity Report (DAR) sheets, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Risk Management accident/incident and property/liability reporting; Fleet Management vehicle maintenance reporting; Google Earth and ArcGIS mapping software (must specify on application).
