Position Description
As the Manager of Quality and Safety, reporting to the General Manager of Florida and collaborating with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Medical Officer, General Counsel and Senior Manager of Operational Excellence, you will drive innovation and ensure excellence in healthcare delivery. This role oversees quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical compliance activities across all Bluebird Kids Health practice locations in Florida. You’ll serve as the organization’s vaccine coordinator for all Florida operations and lead programs to enhance care, promote a safe environment for patients and staff, and maintain compliance with key regulatory requirements at practice sites. Collaborating with clinical and administrative leaders, you’ll align quality and safety goals with Bluebird Kids Health’s overall organizational strategy, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and helping to shape the future of healthcare.
What You’ll Do
Quality and Safety Leadership
- Facilitate market-wide quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Monitor patient safety programs, including clinical incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Lead efforts to achieve quality and efficiency metrics in value-based care contracts and other pay-for-performance programs.
Vaccine Coordination
Serve as the organization’s Vaccine Coordinator, managing compliance with the Florida Vaccines for Children (VFC) program and Florida SHOTS registry.Oversee vaccine procurement, inventory management, storage, handling, administration, and documentation, consistent with all applicable state and federal requirements.Record and upload temperature logs, ensuring availability of documentation for site visits, audits and inspections.Renew program enrollments, calibration certifications, and emergency plans annually.Prepare reports on vaccine usage, wastage, and spoilage, and ensure accurate data entry into immunization systems and patient charts.Provide training and guidance to staff on vaccine-related protocols.Conduct routine audits of vaccine inventory, storage, and record-keeping consistent with state and federal requirements.Coordinate vaccine clinics in collaboration with market-based teams, including flu and COVID vaccine campaigns.Medication Safety
Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements regarding the storage, handling, and disposal of prescription drugs.Monitor medication safety programs, including reconciliation processes and adverse event reporting.Compliance Activities
Ensure practice-level compliance with relevant state, federal and contractual requirements including but not limited to :Infection prevention and control and workplace safety (e.g., OSHA)Vaccine management (e.g., VFC and Florida SHOTS)Laboratory compliance (e.g., CLIA)Adverse incident reporting (e.g., Fla. Stat. § 458.351)Clinical quality and patient safety metricsNurse credentialing and licensing complianceEmergency preparedness and disaster responseMaintain readiness for regulatory site visits, audits and inspections.Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and communicate their impact to leadership and staff.Occupational and Environmental Safety
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) standards, including those related to bloodborne pathogens, hazard communication, and workplace safety protocols.Oversee infection prevention and control programs, including sterilization processes and outbreak management.Conduct regular safety audits at practice sites and recommend improvements to mitigate risks.Emergency Preparedness
Develop and update emergency response plans for hurricanes, pandemics, and other potential disasters in alignment with AHCA and CDC guidelines.Conduct drills and training sessions to ensure organizational readiness.Clinical Operations and Risk Management
Facilitate practice-level systems for reporting and managing clinical incidents and risks.Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for adverse events.Collaborate with site leaders to identify and address gaps in care delivery.Staff Training and Development
Implement appropriate training programs to enhance staff and practice site compliance with regulatory and safety standards as well as clinical practice (e.g. blood draws, vaccine administration, etc).Provide ongoing education on quality improvement, infection control, and emergency preparedness.Collaboration and Leadership
Partner with providers and administrative leaders to integrate quality and safety priorities into daily operations.Act as a site-level resource for clinical and administrative staff for regulatory and clinical compliance matters.Other Duties as Assigned
Requirements : What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related clinical field required. Master’s degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years in healthcare quality, safety, or compliance roles; pediatric or primary care experience preferred.Active Florida RN (or equivalent clinical license) or ability and willingness to obtain one prior to start date.Practical knowledge of state and federal requirements applicable to physician practices and clinical quality improvement methodologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions.Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Bluebird Kids Health is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
