Reports to Chamber Chair of the Board, Executive Committee & Board of Directors
Basic Function: The President is the chief administrative officer for the Chamber. He/she is expected to execute the vision and mission of the chamber, provide leadership for the Chamber and the business community, and is responsible to the Board of Directors for the full range of activities needed to ensure the Chamber’s success in meeting its objectives outlined in its annual Business Plan and Strategic Plan. He/she is responsible for planning, interpretation of policy, organizational structure, budget and finances, volunteer development and membership growth, the employment, development and supervision of staff and the maintenance of the Chamber’s headquarters. - Broad Organizational Leadership
o Ability to manage and lead the overall business operations, with laser focus on executing the annual Business Plan.
o Develops market strategies that are qualitative, result driven behaviors.
o Builds and maintains strong relationships with the Chair of the Board, Executive Board, and Board of Directors. Plans and organizes Executive Board and Board Meetings, including being an active and effective communicator.
o Strong financial manager, including knowledge of the balance sheet and income statement with attention to detail. Including but not limited to the development of the annual budget with support from the Treasurer and Finance Committee, managing all revenues and expenses in accordance with the established budget and ensuring the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
o Evaluates policies, procedures, and organizational structure continuously to ensure effectiveness in meeting the Chamber and community needs. Recommends changes as needed.
o Knows where the organization stands in all facets of the business, utilizing the annual Business Plan as a personal scorecard.
o Able to be a “Master Juggler”. Moves fast and remains focused on key economic drivers for the organization and the community overall.

o Advocacy & Public Policy – Collaborates with the Board, and the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee to identify and manage the Chamber’s relationships with and advocacy efforts before local, state and federal government bodies to achieve desired outcomes. Leverages and maximizes the Chamber’s influence through relationships with government officials, delivering testimony and building coalitions among those with similar views.
- Membership Relations, Development & Retention
o Leads Membership recruiting and retaining process for new and existing members of the Chamber, and ensure the income needed to support the annual Business Plan.
o Meets semi-annually with all Corporate level members to review their annual contributions, programs implemented by the chamber and discuss future opportunities which may benefit the member and overall business community.
o Actively can convey the value proposition of Chamber membership and coach the Board, Team, and Membership on consistent messaging
o Leverages all assets available to ensure delivery of exceptional member experience to include follow up, communications, and execution of events.
