Purpose:
The Activity Aide assists in caring for the recreational, social and cognitive needs of the residents. This involves coordination in the continuing care of the residents. Care must be taken to note the need for fellowship, friendship, worship, other activities, and adjustment to life in the new surroundings of residential care facilities. These duties must be performed in accordance with federal, state, local, and facility standards, guidelines, regulations, policies and procedures.
Palm Village Retirement Community has been serving seniors and the community for over 80 years and sits on a 17 acre campus on the southwest edge of Reedley across from the Kings River. We are a tax exempt non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and licensed as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Our programs and care levels are designed to meet individual needs and encourage an active and friendly community for seniors.
Palm Village’s five levels of care include Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, Assisted Living Memory Care and Skilled Memory Care. Our primary goal is to ensure comfort, security, social support, proper healthcare, and promote independence.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Experience working with senior adults.
- Excellent English written and verbal language skills.
- Ability to operate computer software
Other Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Excellent listening and response skills in communicating with staff, residents, family members, community resource staff, visitors and the public.
- Must be able to project cheerfulness and enthusiasm throughout the community.
Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to infectious waste and disease (including HBV and HIV).
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves throughout facility during workday.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to accommodate recreational activities schedule.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, community resources staff, visitors, and the general public.
- Must have effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to project cheerfulness and enthusiasm.
- Must have an active Certified Nursing Assistant to assist residents; before, during and after resident activities, unless granted special permission by the Administrator and/or Director of Nurses to perform duties without being a Certified Nursing Assistant.

VCR, television, cassette recorder, computer/printer, PA system, sensory stim box, various sensory stim items, cooking utensils, hot glue gun, scissors, dehydrator, tank hole punch, telephone, carts, copy machine, postal machine, craft items, radio, step ladder, tapes (video/cassette), convection oven, hot plate, staple gun, push wheel chairs, hammer, nails and tacks, facility vehicles.
