Qualifications
The cook is responsible for the preparation of high quality food for the residents in HCC, RCC, the patio homes, catering events, and staff. The cook is responsible for closely following recipes and spreadsheets for the special diets in the skilled nursing unit (HCC). Appropriate quantities must be cooked to minimize waste. When a supervisor is off duty, the lead cook is responsible for the general supervision of the food service department.
- Must have at least one (1) year food service preparation experience. Health care facility experience preferred.
- Must have sufficient reading ability to correctly follow menus and diet orders.
- Prefer high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures, as well as related regulations and guidelines pertaining to facility food service operations.
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with and give instructions to other food service staff.
- Must be able to plan, prioritize, and organize the workload to accomplish the required duties during the work day.
- Must maintain proper care of equipment and supplies.
- Must attend required training and education sessions offered by the facility
- Must be able to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, inspectors, food suppliers, etc.
