As an Assistant Equipment Mechanic, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our fleet of golf course maintenance equipment is in top-notch, safe, and efficient working condition. This hands-on position is perfect for a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. Your Daily Drive (Key Responsibilities):
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in a variety of golf course vehicles and equipment.
- Assist the Equipment Mechanic in prioritizing repair and maintenance tasks.
- Independently perform preventative maintenance and adjust engines, cutting mechanisms, and other components of motorized and mechanized equipment.
- Use grinders to sharpen mowing equipment and maintain cutting precision.
- Ensure all equipment is fueled, lubricated, and ready for action.
- Demonstrate and train maintenance staff on the proper use of new equipment.
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts, identifying and ordering items as needed.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
- Support the Agronomy Team with mowing and other operational activities as needed.
- Contribute to the upkeep of high-quality course equipment and facilities.
- Attend team meetings, maintain proactive communication, and adhere to all club policies.
What You Bring to the Team (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus three years of relevant experience in golf course equipment mechanics (or a combination of education and experience).
- Must be at least 18 years old, meeting Florida labor law requirements for operating heavy machinery.
- A valid driver’s license and comfort operating golf course vehicles.
- Working knowledge of electric and gas-powered carts, engines, and hydraulics.
- A meticulous attention to detail and the ability to uphold the highest quality standards.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
Get Hands-On (Physical Demands):
- Move heavy objects (up to 60 lbs) and tolerate repetitive motion such as walking, kneeling, bending, and crouching.
- Work outdoors in Florida’s varied temperatures, from winter’s chill to summer’s heat.
- Stay focused in a moderately noisy environment, adjusting to dynamic challenges with flexibility.
