Founded in 1916, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club is located in Tampa’s most prestigious residential neighborhood and is the Tampa Bay area’s most prestigious private club. The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming, a fitness center, and clubhouse for member entertaining, dining and banquets. Job Summary
Under the direction of the aquatics head coach, the swim coach is responsible for planning and leading practices, and organizing and preparing for swim meets. Primary responsibility falls on providing coaching and instruction to swimmers during practices and swim meets and acting as an ambassador to ensure member and participant satisfaction. Swim coaches are required to complete specialized training and obtain and maintain active certifications. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and possess strong listening and response skills, vigilance, focused, and reliable; must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to be assertive and interact frequently with youth and adult members and their guests. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events.
Essential Duties
- Provides coaching and instruction to swimmers during practices and swim meets; attends and maintains presence during practice sessions and swim meets; travels with team to swim meets.
- Assists in the organization of swim meets, including but not limited to scheduling individual race participants, recording and posting start times, and distributing race ribbons.
- Organizes swim meet volunteers.
- Welcoming to members and guests; develops positive relationships with swimmers and members.
- Completes and submits any incident/accident reports promptly and appropriately.
- Observes and enforces all rules, regulations, and procedures of the facility.
- Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Performs other related duties that may be assigned by a manager.
Requirements
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility.
- Must be able to remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
- Reaching, twisting, and turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
- Exposure to weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 5-50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and the ability to see and hear noises in and around water.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum age requirement is 16 years of age.
- One year of work experience as a swim instructor/coach.
- Must possess and maintain current certifications in: CPR/AED, and First Aid (through a state or nationally accredited program).
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in competitive swimming, or certification as a swim instructor/coach (through a state or nationally accredited program).
