Palmdale Regional Medical Center serves the region by providing high quality medical services to residents of the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities. Palmdale Regional Medical Center’s new Labor and Delivery unit – The Birth Place – is now open! The 33,000-square-foot unit features 25 private patient rooms, six labor/delivery/recovery suites and two surgical suites. The Rehabilitation Institute, the hospital features 184 licensed acute care beds as well as inpatient and outpatient surgery, an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, cardiac servicesfeaturing a STEMI Receiving Center (heart attack) and a 35-bed 24-hour emergency department. Essential Job Duties:
Reporting directly to the EVS Director and ability to assume responsibility of the EVS department when Director is unavailable; this exempt level Manager is responsible for directly overseeing the activities of the day-to-day EVS operations and EVS Supervisor. Routinely reviews and provides training and guidance to staff to ensure that assigned areas are properly cleaned and maintained according to hospital policies and standards of quality and safety. The Manager is responsible for providing guidance, counseling and disciplinary action to EVS staff. Responsible for completing department payroll and performance reviews with EVS Director. Ensures 24/7 staffing and adequate coverage is provided. Performs hospital rounds and patient interviews and inspections to ensure staff are completing all assignments in a timely and efficient manner. Performs daily huddles and meetings with staff and routinely attends hospital department meetings seeking ways to improve service for all customers. Works in collaboration with the Engineering Department to ensure maintenance requests and work orders are input and completed. Works on special projects and committees as assigned by the Director of EVS.

Requirements:
- Ability to plan, organize, train, and manage all department personnel in the EVS Department.
- Ability to direct and control housekeeping activities and evaluate cleanliness and neatness of work against established procedures.
- Knowledge of hospital infection control, sanitation protocols, and cleaning methods.
- Ability to develop in-service training programs.
- Ability to analyze hospital EVS personnel problems, evaluate alternatives, and devise workable solutions.
- Ability to prepare budget requests including labor cost, equipment, and material requirements.
- Ability to interpret and analyze TJC guidelines to ensure compliance with TJC requirements.
- Computation and record keeping ability.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in manager position in a hospital or similar institution.
- Proven managerial skills.
- Clerical skills to maintain department records.
- Courses in hospital housekeeping or institutional management are helpful.
- Experience in functional supervision is essential, whether gained from employment or practical training.
- Knowledge of building maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Special courses in housekeeping or institutional management are helpful.
- CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
