DEFINITION
Under the general supervision of the Principal, or his/her designee, to provide safe supervision of students in the cafeteria area during meal periods (breakfast/lunch) and/or while on the playground or other designated areas during non-instructional times before and after school.
- Monitor breakfast/lunch area; assist students with appropriate behavior.
- Assist in cleaning breakfast/lunch area.
- Monitor playground and/or campus areas.
- Recognize playground hazards; report hazards to site administrator.
- Be safety conscious/inspections of work areas; report safety concerns to site administrator.
- Maintain safety of play areas (i.e., report sharp objects, broken glass, sweep sand off asphalt, report unsafe play equipment).
- Maintain order of students; administer consistent, appropriate discipline practices.
- Report inappropriate student behavioral problems to school management.
- Be aware of, implement and enforce safety standards, and site rules and regulations.

Any combination of education and experience that will provide the ability to meet the minimum qualifications and perform the essential functions of the position will be qualifying. Some experience working with school aged children highly desirable.
- First aid and CPR certification highly desirable.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish language is desired.

Examination
Testing procedures may consist of a written multiple-choice examination, performance, and oral examination. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and notified by email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance.
After the exam procedure concludes for this recruitment, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies. When eligibility lists include open and promotional lists of qualified persons through competitive examination, the promotional list will be used first, unless otherwise stated on this bulletin.
Tentative Test Date: Week of February 18, 2025. Subject to change as necessary.
Work Schedule:
This position works part-time, five hours and 45 minutes (5.75) per day, and observes the student calendar. Some positions may work a split-shift schedule at the discretion of the site administrator.
Salary
The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate five-step salary schedule for this position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule.

Holidays and Leaves
Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employees Association Chapter 296 (CSEA).
Sick leave shall be granted in the proportion of daily hours worked. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands: ability to stand and walk for extended periods; mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend; some pushing and pulling; dexterity of hand and fingers to grasp and use materials/equipment, such as a two-way radio, whistle, and writing instruments; exposure to seasonal weather and climate-controlled indoor environments, and food odors when working in and around a school cafeteria.
