This CDL Trip Driver position requires a skilled individual to transport students and school district authorized passengers on field trips, activities, and special outings. The driver must ensure the safe transportation of passengers, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and proper equipment function.
- Pick up students at assigned stops, ensuring they safely board the bus and are seated before proceeding to the next stop.
- Enforce rules for proper discipline during ride and report any incidents or serious behavior to the Site Manager.
- Safely operate the bus by following all traffic laws, state, and federal transit regulations, while navigating roads and watching for hazards.
- Check the bus upon arrival at the bus garage to ensure there are no children left on board.
- Transport students and school district authorized passengers to field trips, sporting events, and other activities.
- Report accidents immediately to the Site Manager and complete accident reports promptly.
- Maintain the bus by keeping fuel levels above half a tank, sweeping and cleaning the interior after each trip, and alerting office staff of maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Minnesota Commercial Driver's License with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsements.
- Strong knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Understanding of emergency evacuation techniques, basic first aid, and CPR certification (if required).
- Familiarity with health standards and hazards, as well as state regulations and laws pertaining to school bus operation.
- Able to adhere to safety practices, prepare accurate records, and operate equipment used in transporting special needs students.
