Palmer Candy is hiring for a 1st shift Maintenance Planner at our Hwy 75 facility.
Hours : Monday through Thursday 5 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm with Friday and Saturday work required as business needs dictate.
Job Summary :
The maintenance planner is responsible for organizing and coordinating all aspects of maintenance activities for the company, ensuring equipment and facilities are operating efficiently and safely. This role involves preparing detailed maintenance plans, scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, and managing resources to minimize downtime and enhance operational productivity. The Maintenance Planner works closely with maintenance teams, outside vendors for specialized services such as HVAC, PLC’s, welding or machining operations, and other departments to ensure smooth workflows and adherence to regulatory and safety standards.

Duties / Responsibilities :
- Developing and maintaining schedules for routine and preventive maintenance, and scheduling work orders, ensuring that all work is carried out according to plan without disrupting production or affecting safety.
- Preparing cost estimates for maintenance and repair, and tracking costs associated with repairs. Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction. Issues purchase requisitions.
- Ordering inventory parts and supplies, and monitoring inventory levels. Work with storeroom to kit and stage materials and tools, reserve the stock materials required for work order completion, Identify and order any non-stock materials required for pre-planned work.
- Creating and maintaining effective maintenance plans for all equipment and facilities.
- Inspecting equipment for damage or wear, and scheduling repairs or replacements. Participate in the development of capital projects to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Preparing statistical reports on maintenance and repair activities, analyze equipment downtime and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinating with outside vendors for specialized services, and liaising between production, maintenance and scheduling areas.
- Maintaining and evaluating systems maintenance history records.
- Performing administrative functions for CMMS such as mastering the system, adding new equipment, new parts and being the contact point with CMMS vendor for support questions.
- Upgrading preventive maintenance procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
