Palmer Candy is looking for a Maintenance Technician at our Bluff St location.
1st shift will work Monday-Friday. Monday-Thursday hours are 6:00 am- 4:30 pm with Friday hours varying from 6 to 10-hour shifts. Saturday hours may be scheduled due to business needs.

Job Summary:
Perform maintenance on all equipment and facilities, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, HVAC, cutting and welding, in a safe and efficient manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Carries out routine and intermediate maintenance and repair tasks while adhering to service, quality, and safety standards.
- Follows standard operating procedures, installs, inspects, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and waste management systems.
- Collaborates with or assists trade contractors to complete projects or complex repairs.
- Perform independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends as well as answering questions and requests.
- Maintain continuity among teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Attends Palmer Candy Leadership Academy training.
- Ability to be on call at various times.
- Flexibility to check manufacturing facility on a rotating schedule and be willing to support other facility including warehouses as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate Power Industrial Vehicles.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
- Understanding of fluke, amp probe and other common electrical testing equipment.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, and various measuring instruments.
- Growth in multiple competencies relevant to the job which may include electrical, automation, or HVAC.
- Skilled in fabricating equipment such as conveyor belts, sorting feeders, and metal detector stands, as well as manufacturing repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment, with experience in MIG and TIG welding.
- Complete training on scales/Baggers/Labelers for HWY 75 facility and Mogul/Enrobers/Cooling tunnels for Bluff St facility.
- Boiler license from Sioux City or equivalent.
- Ability to verbally communicate fluently in English to effectively engage with internal teams.
- Must be proficient in reading and understanding English-language manuals, equipment, instructions, and other documents.
Education and Experience:
- Requires 3-5 years of experience, with additional specialized training and/or certification.
- 2-3 year’s experience with CMMS.
- 3-5 year’s experience with electrical theory, practical and troubleshooting.
- PLC experience preferred, producing evidence of 2 years’ experience in the PLC field and/or technical school diploma and pass proficiency test for PLC’s.
- 3-5 year’s experience in the electrical field and/or technical school diploma.
Physical Requirements:
- Possible exposure to minor burns or cuts.

- Ability to climb ladders and work above shoulder level.

- Continual use of hands to handle, control or feel objects.
- Frequent lifting, pushing or pulling.
