Day shift hours are 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday with Friday with overtime hours scheduled frequently during busy season on Saturday.
Job Title: Sanitation Utility Operator
Reports to: Sanitation Department Lead
Job Summary:
This role performs sanitation and janitorial duties inside and outside company facilities on the first or second shift working Monday through Friday with some Saturday work required. This team member will work within established guidelines and standards to ensure the highest quality of sanitation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Sanitation of facilities, machines, and production equipment ensuring that our products are being produced in a safe, secure, and sanitary environment. Ensuring that all supplies are stocked including but not limited to, the stocking of gloves and hair nets. Frequently traveling to warehouses to ensure all buildings are properly sanitized and kept clean. Keeping the plant as clean as possible is our top priority as Sanitation, while following proper safety regulations.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Regular attendance.
- Dispose of all combos/totes of cardboard/ plastic and trash.
- Cleaning and upkeep of entire cardboard warehouse (including compactor entry, and outside around compactor area)
- Occasionally loading of cardboard or plastic to go to recycling facility.
- Restacking / Wrapping of reusable combos.
- Empty and return all trash/cardboard/plastic combos throughout facility.
- Operate sanitation equipment and tools.
- Prepare sanitation supplies/chemicals safely and correctly.
- Cleaning and sanitizing of manufacturing and packaging machines and equipment.
- Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations.
- Managing recycling and waste removal.
- Participate in light painting/construction projects
- Perform simple maintenance.
- Capability to learn how to use pallet jacks or forklifts
- Maintain acceptable standards of conduct.
- Ability to interact with all functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with individuals at all levels and functions.
- Ability to verbally communicate proficiently in English to effectively engage with internal teams. Applicant must be proficient in reading and understanding English-language manuals, equipment, instructions, and other documents relevant to the role.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or management.
Education and experience:
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Prior sanitation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to work overtime as needed and as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 40 – 50 pounds occasionally and 25 -30 pounds frequently.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb ladders and work above shoulder level.
- Repetitive motion.
- Continual use of hands to handle, control or feel objects.
- Continual lifting, pushing or pulling.
