What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long term Substitute School Nurse (RN or LPN) position at Palmer High School?
Duties to include but not limited to:
1.Assesses and evaluates students’ health and the impact on their learning and school achievements.
2.Develops, implements and communicates individual health care and emergency plans for students with significant health problems.
3.Communicates and works closely with the School Nurse Leader.
4.Maintains strict standards of confidentiality
5.Follows Palmer School District and health office policies and procedures.
6.Communicates effectively with students, parents and school personnel about adaptations of the comprehensive school program, interventions, or environment required by students to meet their individual health needs and learning needs.
7.Organizes, carries out and reports on mandated health screening programs and makes appropriate referrals and follow-up on vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening failures, as deemed appropriate.
8.Administers medications appropriately, in keeping with school policy on administration of medication in the School.
9.Assumes responsibility for the initiation and maintenance of student health record, through health office software. Documents first aid care and illness assessment provided for staff and students, completes accident reports, and maintains a log of health room activities.
