What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician position at Palmer Public Schools?
The Systems Specialist position is responsible for daily end user support of all technology within the Palmer Public Schools, including but not limited to: device support & maintenance, hardware and software inventory, basic network troubleshooting, printing, AV & interactive board equipment, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Active Directory, Mobile Device Management platform (MDM) and other duties as assigned. Experience in computer and network support or any combination of education and experience that would prove the noted knowledge, skills and abilities. Should possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Server and Google Chrome operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory Tools, Virtualization, and Ethernet switched wired and wireless networks.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to perform basic to moderate troubleshooting. Must be able to understand and follow set procedures and possess excellent communication, customer service, documentation, organizational, and technical professional skills. Should be a self-starter, able to prioritize needs, and apply emphasis to multitasking.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
1. Set-up, configuration, repair and support for hardware, software, networking services, peripheral devices, AV, presentation and broadcast equipment and other school technologies.
2. Work within mobile device management, and chrome management to effectively provision and deploy faculty, staff, and student devices; such as Chromebooks and iPads.
3. Provide AV support as needed, such as projectors, document cameras, interactive panels.
4. Evaluate, Prioritize, and Respond to technology support requests.
5. Document and update support tickets.
6. Isolate connectivity issues and seek support when needed for resolution.
7. Maintain accurate technology inventory.
8.Troubleshoot technology applications used throughout the organization.
9. Drive the delivery of high quality, well-received, effective and efficient service.
10. Provide technical support in preparation for and during online high stakes testing as needed.
11. Assist in the evaluation of technology initiatives related to instruction and student learning.
12. Participate in technology initiatives, rollouts and pilots, and provide necessary feedback for proper evaluation.
13. Participate in informational sessions and training pertaining to innovations in technology.
14. Support use of Google Workspace Applications throughout the organization.
15. Work with district data collections on state reporting and other tasks as needed.
The salary for this position is: commensurate with experience
