The Floral Processor will be responsible for the preparation, conditioning, and storage of flowers and greenery, ensuring that they are in peak condition for arrangements and displays. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of floral care techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Flower Preparation: Unpack, inspect, and process fresh flower shipments, including trimming, removing foliage, and preparing stems for design work.
- Quality Control: Examine flowers and greenery for quality and freshness upon arrival, discarding or reporting any damaged or unusable items.
- Hydration and Conditioning: Hydrate and condition flowers and greenery to ensure optimal longevity and appearance.
- Storage and Organization: Properly store flowers and materials in the cooler or other designated storage areas to preserve their freshness, and maintain an organized work area.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and track inventory levels of fresh flowers, foliage, and supplies, notifying management of low stock.
- Sanitation and Maintenance: Keep the processing area clean, sanitized, and organized, including disinfecting tools and equipment regularly.
- Assistance to Designers: Prepare flowers, supplies, and tools for designers, ensuring all necessary materials are available and in excellent condition.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a floral or horticultural environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of flower types, conditioning techniques, and proper handling practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Physical stamina for lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Comfortable working in cold storage areas for extended times.
- Ability to handle repetitive tasks, such as trimming and cleaning flowers.
