    Palmerton Area School District is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Secretary to join our team at the Towamensing Elementary School. This role serves as the primary contact for students, parents, and staff, ensuring smooth daily operations in the school office. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a friendly demeanor.

    Position Summary:
    To provide secretarial support to the Building Principal

    Qualifications:
    Education/Experience:
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Minimum of one (1) year’s secretarial experience, preferred.
    Skills/Knowledge:
    • Possess advanced computer skills including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Windows, and Google Suite
    • Ability to multi-task within deadlines
    • Ability to obtain knowledge of CSIU software and Powerschool
    • Ability to effectively prioritize assigned tasks.
    • Ability to effectively operate office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, telephone system, fax machine, copier, and calculator.
    • Keyboard proficient
    • Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents/guardians, and administrators.
    • Ability to organize and plan effectively.
    • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Possess problem solving, planning, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and confidentiality.
    Physical:
    • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry, or convey sufficient weight to conduct functions, duties, and responsibilities safely and effectively.
    • Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings.
    • Ability to be mobile for travel outside of district.
    • Ability to sit continuously for a period of time, approximately two and one-half (2½) hours.
    • Ability to communicate via telephone and email system.
    Functions/Duties/Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards as set by the employer. In accordance with both state and/or federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request.

    Essential:
    • Provide secretarial support to Building Principal including, but not limited to, PowerSchool, CSIU, word processing, maintaining schedules, conference scheduling, mailings, filing, copying, faxing, and general office duties.
    • Process and distribute daily mail.
    • Answer and respond to incoming telephone calls in a courteous manner.
    • Respond appropriately to student issues.
    • Greet visitors and respond to visitor security system.
    • Prepare daily announcements.
    • Process student discipline notices as directed by the Building Principal
    • Assist in the development of the budget.
    • Ability to create purchase orders.
    • Manage activities accounts.
    • Prepare and send out student correspondence.
    • Prepare and conduct end-of-school year processing for teachers and students.
    • Enter data into student database including, but not limited to, student attendance.
    • Process employee absences.
    Secondary:
    • Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
    Terms of Employment:
    • 12-month position
    • In conjunction with PAESPA Agreement
    • Work year shall be from July 1 to June 30
