Job Summary: A Heavy Equipment Mechanic assists with and performs the hands-on aspect of preventative maintenance and repairs of gas and diesel engines. Persons in these roles will possess a working knowledge of the types of heavy equipment used within their industry and are prepared to make repairs to all types of equipment and vehicles. These machines may include, but are not limited to: bulldozers, motor graders, front-end loaders, backhoes, paving machines, rollers, broom tractors, transfer vehicles, track hoes, off-road dump trucks, and other vehicles as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Heavy Equipment Mechanics will be responsible for maintaining records of service and repair work on all trucks and equipment, as well as performing unexpected mechanical tasks as needed to minimize disruption of business. They are also expected to order repair and maintenance parts, stock items, and keep inventory records as needed. These mechanics will be able to identify and overcome issues that arise from mechanical failures, communication breakdowns, availability issues regarding repair parts and tools, and safety concerns as it relates to the fleet. Heavy Equipment Mechanics would be expected to assist with facility and grounds maintenance as needed and balance multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment. They may also travel to perform repairs and inspections on our job sites and may perform any other duty or assignment as may be required from time to time by their foreman.
