Outside Plant Technician (Telecommunications Industry)
Palmetto Engineering and Consulting, an employee-owned, professionally licensed engineering and consulting firm, specializing in telecommunications engineering, is seeking qualified individuals to perform telecommunications outside plant technical services involving cable staking, design, and/or construction of outside plant facilities – aerial experience preferred. Job Responsibilities:
The Outside Plant Technician will be required to perform outside plant engineering. The successful candidate must have an understanding of fiber and copper network construction, field staking, and related engineering and drafting.
Qualifications & Technical Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of Outside Plant Telecom work experience along with OSP engineering or Construction experience.
- Experience in designing and documenting Outside Plant Copper or Fiber Optic Cable facilities (UG, Aerial, Buried).
- Experience staking aerial and underground fiber optic cable
- Knowledge of construction practices and techniques related to utility work.
- Familiarity in obtaining Permits including railroad, highway, pipeline, etc.
- Ability to complete work according to customer specifications and requirements.
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Must be able to work independently, travel weekly to the job site as needed, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a substance abuse screening test.
- Experience with CAD and/or GIS a plus.
Compensation:
Hourly Pay is dependent upon education, experience, and credentials. The benefits package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, ESOP, and a 401k Plan.
Hours:
Typically, Monday through Thursday; 10 hours a day
