Position Summary :
Delivers professional and technical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing a PICC line insertion procedure. Care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital. Utilizes the skillful process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age / developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards. Prepares and maintains expensive, fragile equipment. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort, monitoring and well-being of the patient. Works with the medical staff in planning, coordinating pre, post and procedural care to a number of patients.
Participates in departmental 24-hour emergency call. Maintains department specific equipment including the daily documentation of PICC Line insertions. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with Director, Manager, Supervisors, and other members of the various departments to promote harmonious work environment.
Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern, provides assistance, and explains procedures as appropriate to patients and / or families. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
Position Qualification :
- Graduate from an approved nursing educational program and licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Florida or foreign medical graduate licensed by the State of Florida as a House Physician.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care facility with experience in PICC Line insertions preferred.
- Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess / detect changes in human physiological condition.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.
- Advanced physical assessment skills.
